How to download your Facebook chat history

You can download your chat conversations from Facebook to save them to your computer. The Message / Chat Downloader for Chrome extension allows you to download a specific part of the history. For example, if you want to download message exchanges that took place between May 15 and 18, simply specify the dates and the plugin will download the conversations that happened in that period.

Here's how to download your Facebook chat history.

Step 1. Open Chrome and go to the Message / Chat Download extension page. Then click the "Add to Chrome" button and confirm the installation of the plugin;

Step 2. Then log in to your Facebook account. In the chat window, click the contact you want to save the conversation. Then click the gear icon in the upper right corner of the conversation window. In the menu that will be displayed, click the "Open in Messenger" option;

Step 3. When the Messenger window appears, click the icon for the extension that is just after the Chrome address box (a blue balloon);

Step 4. While doing this, a small window will be displayed. Click "Select date range ..." to choose the period of the conversation to save;

Step 5. In the new window that will be displayed, click the first day of the period and then the last day (if you need to, use the side arrows to go to previous months). Finally, click the "Apply" button to confirm the choice;

Step 6. Back to the main window of the extension, click the "Start Download" button;

Step 7. With the conversation on the screen, click on the "File" menu and then on "Save page as" (or use the CTRL + S keys) to save the conversation on your PC.
