How to install on Windows

Step 1. Go to the official page of your printer model on the Canon website. In our case, this is the MG 3610. When the page opens, choose the option "Drivers and software";

If you do not have the printer CD in hand, go to the Canon website to download the drivers

Step 2. Next, click the "Download Driver" shortcut.

Click the link to be taken to Canon's support site.

Step 3. The site has no translation into Portuguese, so it is important to pay attention before choosing the options to not download incorrect drivers. Make sure that the system you selected matches your needs. Software is also available for macOS versions;

Choose the correct version of the system on which you want to install the printer

Step 4. Since we only want the driver, we chose the "Drivers" option. In the "Utilities" tab, you have access to the driver, but also to Canon complimentary software that may or may not be useful. If you lost your printer CD, or purchased a model that does not have installation media, it is in this "Utilities" option that you find the complete package of apps and drivers for your all-in-one;

Step 5. Choose the third item from the list (if the list of options is different for your printer, give preference to the item described as "complete package" or "complete package" in the translation.) A good tip for those who do not have Spanish Sharp is to choose by file size: the largest of them, in MB (megabytes) tends to be the most complete;

Choose the complete package for a robust mair installation

Step 6. The site will display a screen with technical data of the driver. Swipe the page until you find "I accept - start downloading". By clicking this button you agree to accept the terms of use and have access to the download. Choose where to save the driver and wait;

Click the indicated button and download the driver

Step 7. The good news is that, even with the Spanish support site, the driver is in Portuguese. Make sure your all-in-one is connected to your computer via USB or Wi-Fi. To install, just click "Printer Setup". If you have the CD in hand, just follow the installation from here;

Click on the highlighted button to begin the installation and first setup of your printer

Step 8. On the first screen, confirm that the selected region and country are correct;

Check the data and proceed with the installation

Step 9. Click "I Agree" and "Yes" to continue;

Accept the terms and proceed

Step 10. Select "Next" to continue;

Step 11. Here you choose whether to install the printer via Wi-Fi or USB. In our case, we will opt for Wi-Fi;

Choose the desired connectivity method

Step 12. On this screen, the options refer to two types of wireless connection: in the first case, and more commonly, your printer is wirelessly connected to your router. In the second, the printer is connected via Wi-Fi to the PC. Choose and click "Next." It is worth mentioning that in "Instructions", you can learn how to connect the printer to the router;

Recommended method is simpler and more efficient: it will allow the printer to be accessed by other computers on the network, as long as you install the driver on them as well

Step 13. Wait for the software to search the printer on your network;

Detection can take a few minutes, have patience

Step 14. On the next screen, click on your printer and choose "Next";

Step 15. The installer will download additional companion software. Wait;

Procedure is normal: at the end, you can choose whether or not to install additional software from Canon

Step 16. At the end, the installer will notify you that the installation has completed successfully and that you can use your printer;

Ready! Your printer is ready for use

How to install on Linux?

In Linux, the procedure is simpler than in Windows, since it is not necessary to download anything, nor to have the CD. Canon does not offer official drivers for the free system in most cases, which means that the brand's machine support is offered directly by the community and that your printer should be able to be installed with a few clicks.

The only question that stays here is the distribution you use. More recent and updated versions of Debian, Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Manjaro and Fedora will certainly have uncomplicated processes for installation. In our example, we will use Ubuntu 18.04, the latest edition of this distro.

Step 1. Open the Settings of your system;

Open your system settings application

Step 2. In the Settings app, slide the options until you find "Devices", one of the last ones in the list;

Step 3. Under "Devices, you will find a selection of peripherals to control and install on your system. Choose" Printers ";

Step 4. On the screen that will open, click "Add a printer". Make sure it is connected to the computer or the network. If you prefer, connect via USB;

Click the button to start the installation of your printer.

Step 5. Wait while the system scans your network or USB ports on your computer;

The operating system will scour your network or your USB ports in search of the printer

Step 6. Note that Linux will find your printer, but it is possible to detect it with a different name than you are accustomed to: in our example, it found the MG 3610 as MG 3000. Click on the detected printer and click on " Add";

Step 7. In just a few seconds, Ubuntu will add your printer and you can use it to print what you want;

In a matter of seconds, your printer will be installed and can be used normally
