The feature works in the background and, according to Apple, aims to collect data to improve the experience of using the company's products. The function, however, is somewhat invasive and can compromise user privacy, especially on shared computers.

Here's how to disable and clear location history on macOS

Step 1. Access the macOS settings and click on "Security and Privacy";

Step 2. Next, click on the padlock in the lower left corner of the screen, and enter the administrator password;

Step 3. Now in the "Location Services" tab, click "Details ...", to the right of "System Serials";

Step 4. Click "Details ..." again to the right of "Important Places";

Step 6. If you want to prevent your location from being registered again, uncheck the "Important Places" option and click "OK".
