Mega Drive Sonic 3D gets new version after 20 years; see how to play

Sonic 3D Blast was originally released in 1996 for Mega Drive and 1997 for the PC. He recently won a definitive new release from the Steam digital store, created by Jon Burton of Traveler's Tales. This version brings a series of novelties and improvements to the original game requested by fans, among them the inclusion of Super Sonic, however, always according to the original limitations of Mega Drive. Among the novelties of this version are a menu of phases, a new Time Challenge mode, the addition of Super Sonic as a playable form of the character, a new enemy (the infamous Prototype Crab), improved controls, minor repairs and improvements. The game even has an impressive stage editor to create your own levels, and a system to save the game through passwords, which may seem a little old fashioned, but it refers to Burton's goal of respecting the limitations of the game at the time .

How to install and play

Step 1: You need to have this version of the game on Steam to get the Director's Cut. This version of Sonic 3D Blast is part of the SEGA Mega Drive & Genesis Classics package.

Step 2: On the Steam client, go to the SEGA Mega Drive & Genesis Classics game page in your library.

Step 3: A little below the list of games in the collection there will be the "Steam Workshop" section. Click the "Browse the workshop" button.
