Spotify playlists: how to create shortcuts on Android

Spotify for Android allows users to create shortcuts to playlists and albums of favorite bands on the home screen of the phone. Exclusive to the Android version, the feature is ideal for users who want to quickly start a personal playlist or who want to save new albums to remember to listen to later. By tapping the shortcut, Spotify starts in the playlist, streamlining the action to listen to the songs through the app.

To test the feature, we use a Moto C Plus with Android 7.0 (Nougat) system. However, the feature is only available for tablets and smartphones with newer versions of Android.

Action to create playlists shortcuts

Step 1. Open Spotify and touch the "Your Library" option. Then tap the "Playlists" option.

Step 2. Touch the three-dot icon next to the playlist you chose to create an icon. On the next screen, use the "Add to Home Screen" option.

Step 3. Go to the device homepage to check the created shortcut and touch it. Once this is done, the playlist will open quickly on the screen.

Step 1. Search for a disc or access the list of albums saved in your in-app library. Tap the three-dot icon next to the disc description and choose the "Add to Home Screen" option.
