Using Life360 to track friends or family

Life360 is a free application for Android and iPhone (iOS) capable of finding out where a person is and sharing their location with other users. That way, you can find close friends or monitor your family members. The app is useful for when you go out with friends and do not want to get lost. The tool is also ideal for those who have children and want to know in real time where they are and if they are safe. The platform offers some extra features paid separately if the user wants.

Interested parties can create a circle of connections to follow the movement of the contacts they want. The invitation to authorize access can be sent on other platforms, with social networks WhatsApp, Instagram and Twitter. The procedure was performed on a Moto E4 with Android 7.1.1 Nougat, but the tips are also valid for users of the Apple system.

Step 1. Download and install the Life360 app on your phone. When opening the application for the first time, tap "Introduction." Next, enter your mobile number and touch "Next";

Step 2. Create a password for your account and tap "Next". Then provide an email address to retrieve the account in the future, if necessary;

Step 3. Enter your name and, if you like, add a profile photo and touch "Next". On the next screen, go to "Allow access" and authorize the app to access your location;

Step 4. If you have been invited by someone, you can enter a circle of connections by entering the invitation code or creating a new circle. In this case, go to "Invite new people" to join your circle;

Step 5. Copy the code displayed on the screen and send it to your friends and family. If you prefer, touch "Send Code" to share in chat apps like WhatsApp or social networks like Instagram and Twitter;

Step 6. Back to the Life360 home screen, go to "Include Home" to register your residence. Enter the address and tap "Save" in the upper right corner;

Step 7. If you want to enter a circle, go to the application menu and tap "Join";

Step 8. Enter the code provided by your friend or relative and click "Submit." Then confirm by tapping "Join";

Step 9. The location of your friends or family members who are part of the circle will be displayed on the map. Tap on the name to see the exact location and slide the screen up to see the person's timeline. Use the button in the lower right corner of the map to see the location history. You can also send messages on the balloon icon, located in the upper right corner of the screen.
