Gmail is behind us: seven tips to master Google Inbox

Inbox is Google's own alternative to Gmail. Although less popular, the service has interesting features that outperform other email managers. Among the resources, you can highlight the reminders and the collection of links. The program also works with @ gmail.com addresses, but features more modern design and smart features, including integration with Google Assistant and Google Keep.

The app has versions for web, Android and iPhone (iOS), and can turn alternative also to Mail, Apple. Here are seven Inbox highlights and learn how to get the most out of the application on your smartphone.

Messages saw tasks

In Inbox, the user can treat emails as tasks to be fulfilled. Slide a message to the right to finish and archive on time, or right to delay. The second option allows you to set the day and time to receive the email again, allowing you to focus on more urgent messages and leave the least important for later. The most important items can also be set in the receiving box, remaining in view even when all the day's activities are complete.

Integrated reminders with Google Assistant and Google Keep

Inbox has a reminder function that tells the user about something important inside the inbox. The alert stays between messages and can be completed, deferred, or set as a task. There are at least three ways to create a reminder in Inbox: within the email app, by voice command in the Google Android Assistant, or within a Keep note. In the latter case, note reminders appear with a link in Inbox, and a click takes the user to the complete note content.

Link Repository

To avoid the custom of sending emails to yourself with interesting links, Inbox allows you to save URLs in a simple way. By copying a link and opening the email app, the user sees a pop-up window and can, with one tap, save the content online. Addresses are saved to a collection that can be accessed on any device with the Google account logged in. Later, it is possible to email links to a contact.

Convenient attachment tool

Attaching files or images in Inbox is simpler because of the carousel displayed in the app. When you select the attachments tool, the program shows two lines with thumbnails of Google Photos and Drive files to select. With one touch, you can add content to an email and send, without the need to browse a file manager on your phone.

Organization of flights and packages

Inbox is smart enough to organize emails on the same subject and create interactive cards for the user. Flight confirmations and hotel reservations are combined to form a travel itinerary, and order-status emails have seen a card that displays only the information that matters, such as the arrival forecast and package value. The user does not have to do anything to use these features. Just wait for the messages and let Google organize the information yourself.

Creating Message Templates

You can create a message template to repeat the same text in multiple submissions. Just write an email and turn it into a template with one click. The content will then be saved for use with other senders. This is the only function of the list that, for now, only works in Inbox for desktop browser.

More intelligent

Inbox offers a number of other interesting attributes that enhance the experience on a daily basis. It suggests automatic responses based on the context of a message, warns when the user may have forgotten to read something potentially important, suggests canceling newsletters ignored by the user and shows links and articles even before opening the email. Overall, Google's less famous email client is the smartest one available for mobile.
