How to delete WhatsApp conversation

Deleting conversations from WhatsApp is a simple task. You can remove specific messages or delete the entire history. It is also possible to archive the chat to hide it from the home screen of the messenger. That way, the chat can be retrieved at any time, on both the iPhone (iOS) and Android.

In the following tutorial, learn how to delete WhatsApp messages or conversations. The procedures were performed on an iPhone 8 with iOS 12 and a Moto E4 with Android Nougat (7.1.1), but the tips are valid for other models of the Apple phone or for devices with the Google system.

On the iPhone

Step 1. To delete an excerpt from a conversation, open the chat and hold your finger on the message to be removed. In the menu that appears, touch "Delete".

Step 2. Use the check box on the left to mark the messages you want to remove. Now touch the trash can icon in the lower left corner and confirm.

Step 3. You can also archive the conversation to hide it from the WhatsApp home screen. To do this, drag the conversation from right to left. Then touch "Archive".

Step 4. If you want to delete the whole conversation, you must touch "More" and, in the menu that appears, in "Erase Conversation". Finally, press "Erase Conversation" again to confirm.

Step 1. To delete an excerpt from a conversation, open the chat and hold your finger on the message to be removed. If you want to remove more messages, touch them to select them.
