How to check if your computer has a 'TPM' module for encryption

TPM (Trusted Platform Module) technology protects HD data with advanced encryption, but not all computers are compatible. This is one of the requirements of Windows Bitlocker, which converts user files and prevents third-party copying.

The feature is also used to enable the biometrics of Samsung Galaxy smartphones on the PC, among other functions that require maximum security. Learn to check if your machine has TPM on the hardware.

Here's how to save your notebook battery without reducing screen brightness

Step 1. Open the Start Menu and type "run". Then click on the "Run" item;

Open Run

Step 2. In the Run window, type the command "tpm.msc" and hit Enter;

Access the TPM manager

Step 3. Windows will open the TPM technology management wizard, which has native support in the system. If there is no TPM chip in the computer, the window will display the message "Can not find a compatible TPM." If so, you will see the device specifications;

Verify that Windows identifies the TPM chip

Step 4. If the search is negative, it is still worth checking if the module exists, but it is disabled. Again in the Start Menu, search for "Device Manager";

Access the Device Manager

Step 5. From the list, search for "Security Devices, " right-click and select "Enable." If the item is missing, the computer does not actually have a TPM chip installed on the motherboard.

Search for Security Devices

Without the TPM module, you can not use all Bitlocker features to encrypt your computer. The chip, it should be remembered, is most commonly found on professional line computers.
