Who is the best telephone operator in the region? App shows on the map

Are you thinking of switching to a cellular operator, but you can not decide which one? With attractive plans and number portability, finding out who offers the best service can be a differential. The OpenSignal application (compatible with Android and iPhone) allows you to visualize the performance of each one, according to the location shown in Google Maps, and perform a comparison with the data collected by the application, such as download and upload speed, latency and quality of the signal in the region. Check out how the program can help you decide, in a few steps, with this tutorial.

Check which carrier performs best in your region

Beyond the fourth generation: Understand how the 4G Plus internet works on mobile phones

Step 1. Open the OpenSignal application and click the pin icon, located at the bottom right. You can then check the coverage already in the area in which it is located or search for a new region. To do so, tap the "Find location" field.

Search for the location you want in Open Signal

Step 2. Enter the name of the location where you want to perform the search, and then tap on the corresponding location that will appear in the results.

Select the place indicated in the Open Signal

Step 3. At this moment, the application will now show the coverage of the 4G, 3G and 2G networks of all operators operating in the region. To refine the search to any specific carrier or connection type, tap on "All 2G / 3G / 4G".

In the tab that opens, you can select a specific operator. In our example, it is possible to individually search for the performance of Nextel, Oi, Vivo, Tim or Claro, which operate in the capital of Rio de Janeiro. If you prefer, you can also select if you want to see only the 4G or 2G / 3G coverage by unchecking the previously marked box. To check the result, simply touch the map.

Step 4. Next, the program visually displays on the map the coverage, which varies from "Weak" in red, "Good" in green, and the data obtained on it in that region. At the top of the screen, the app displays download, upload, and latency (how long, in milliseconds, an information packet takes you to and from the destination, meaning the lower the value, the better).

In addition to the visualization of each operator individually, the Open Signal also shows a comparative performance of the services provided by the companies in that locality. To view, simply tap "Compare Performance".

Step 5. On the first screen, the app displays the statistics for downloading and uploading the networks of all carriers and, when you drag your finger to the side, the latency and signal quality data. It is worth remembering that all information is based on information collected from measurements of program users in these areas.
