Chrome for Android: watching videos in floating window (PiP)

Watching a video over Chrome while doing other tasks on the phone is simple for Android 8 Oreo users. The latest version of the system created by Google has the picture-in-picture (PiP) mode, which allows you to play the video in a small floating window. With the feature, you can place the thumbnail anywhere on the screen while other apps are normally used.

For now, not every program that plays videos has the function. Everyone needs to have support for PiP enabled by developers. In addition, the operation may be slightly different in each case. Here's how to use PiP.

How to free RAM on Android and delete useless files

Step 1. Open Chrome and go to some video page. After you play, touch the full-screen button available in the video controls.

Step 2. With the video being played in full screen, press the Home button on your phone. The video can not be paused.

Access the video from Chrome in fullscreen

Step 3. The video will be reduced to a small window in the lower right corner of the screen. You can access any application because the floating window will stay on top with the video being played. You can drag the video to any part of the display.

Reduced, video continues to play over any app

Step 4. While tapping on the video, the window will expand a bit and display the pause / play buttons, skip video, close and return to full screen mode. To dispense with the window, simply make the movement as down as if you were pulling it out of the screen.

Video can be dragged and controlled in the PiP window
