How to install the most current Android on Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime

The Galaxy J5 Prime, Samsung's intermediate cell phone, runs Android 6.0 and will not be upgraded to the latest version of Google's system - Android 8 Oreo. Despite this, the manufacturer continues to release minor updates, with fixes for security holes and occasional improvements. Updates can be installed through the smartphone itself, without the need to connect the phone to the computer.

Step 1. Access the Android settings. To do so, simply enter the application menu and touch "Settings". Now, slide the settings screen to the end.

Step 2. Touch the "About device" option, the last item in the list. Then click "Download updates manually" and wait for the system to check for available updates.

Step 3. If your device is up-to-date, a message will inform you that the latest updates have already been installed. If updates are available, touch "Install Now" to start the download immediately. Use the "Install in the evening" option to upgrade your cell phone at night, when you're not using it.
