How to Play Gwent

Gwent's rules are quite simple: each player buys ten cards from his deck at the beginning of the game and must download them to the board, which in turn is divided into three possible rows: body attack, long range and siege. The objective is to sum the strength in number of these cards and to surpass the force of the opponent, causing that it happens the turn and you are the winner or the winner.

And there are only two actions throughout the game: playing a card or passing the turn. In the second round, two additional cards are purchased, and in the third round - if any - only one.

Gwent involves strength-in-number comparison

Generally, a Gwent match unfolds in the "best of three" system. Who wins two rounds first, wins. Most cards, however, have special abilities that can change their fortunes on the battlefield, change the climate to benefit or damage cards, attack with more power, include defense, among other differentiated powers.

This goes beyond the basic rule and each card varies from point to point - it is necessary to read the description of each one before throwing it to the board. Before each match it is also possible to change starting hand cards, which is called "mulligan".

First of all: challenges

But before playing in multiplayer mode, which is the main attraction of Gwent, it is highly indicated to go through the challenges. They work as a "learning phase, " so you learn the basics of the game in practice. Each challenge teaches you how to play cards, make combos, create decks, or even create cards.

Challenges are how to successfully learn Gwent

After completing the first sets of basic challenges - the first two lines - the player has the option of performing the challenges of each race - these are already more complex because they are matches against the computer, but will help to master the gameplay and the strategies in each clash against opponents.

Tips to be a master

Gwent does not just add the power of the cards to win. You have to have strategy. Bluffing is one such strategy. There is no direct communication between opponents on consoles or most online games, but it is possible to make your opponent think that you have a bad hand, playing the right cards, and thus causing him to play the cards more powerful, straightforward.

The bluff is important in Gwent's departure

This allows you to win more easily, as well as surprise the challenger. Another tip is to know with which of the factions of Gwent you identify more: Skellige, Monsters, Nilfgaard, Kingdoms of the North or Scoia'tael. Knowing their characteristics and mastering each one of them can make a difference against the opponent. The message is: study the cards and read their descriptions to understand how to combine them on the battlefield.

How to open barrels and get cards

Gwent is a free game, but it uses money to buy barrels with more cards. These barrels can also be obtained through the game, just playing games and achieving virtual values. Just like in other similar games, each barrel has a variety of cards, which can be common, rare, epic and legendary.

Barrels give new cards in Gwent

Four initial cards are opened, and at the end you have to choose between a stronger card. The barrel gives you three final options, but only one can be chosen - while the other two are destroyed. It is good to choose wisely because there is no guarantee that the others will come in future barrels.

How to create decks

The process of creating decks in Gwent is of utmost importance and the player should spend some time getting acquainted with their build menu. You have to keep an eye on small details: a minimum of 25 cards, the maximum number of silver (six) or gold (four) and which of the board lines the chosen card will position: body attack, long distance and siege, as explained above.

Learn To Ride Your Deck In Gwent

Before you begin assembling the deck, you need to choose your leader card, which will have a special effect during combat, as well as the faction, which will provide the cards and the types of cards to build. When leaving the assembly phase, do not forget to save your deck and name it according to your strategy: "attack deck", "discard deck", or any other nomenclature that is the focus of the strategy.

How to Create Letters

Gwent has a card-making system. Virtually any card can be "casually", as it is said informally, from the "Remains", which in turn are items created by means of cards undone by the user - functionality available from level three.

Create cards will allow you to have cards that did not come out in barrels in Gwent

The cost to create a letter varies greatly. It can be 30 remains or 800, among other possible costs, for example. The value disagres according to the rarity of the card desired by the player. Remains can also be achieved on seasonal rewards and on daily rewards - such as winning a certain number of rounds.

Playing multiplayer

Gwent's multiplayer is his main attraction. By playing it the user advances level, gets new barrels and has the experience of facing a human adversary, elsewhere in the world, through the internet. Participating in online matches will always be the funniest and most suitable option for playing Gwent.

In the Gwent home menu you can enter multiplayer

The multiplayer can be accessed shortly in the first menu option. At level ten, the user can participate in qualifying matches, which are worth rank positions. But it is highly recommended to have well-constructed and well-tested decks before beginning to venture into the qualifiers - which will always be worth points.

Multiplayer works the same way as matches against the computer - all card commands and card operations are the same - except that whoever is on the other side is another player. The rule holds: won two rounds, won the entire game.

Win multiplayer matches to climb the rankings in Gwent

The more wins, even in casual matches, the more rewards, either in rank or through points or gold to buy barrels. The evolution in Gwent is quite natural and corresponds to what an online card game should be.

Cross-play and cross-buy

Gwent will be compatible with cross-play technology, that is, multiplayer cross-platform. Anyone who plays on the PC can play against users on the PS4 or Xbox One. However, Xbox One and PS4 will not play with each other.

Gwent is available on PC, Xbox One and PS4

In the case of PC, Windows 10 users will have the advantage, in the Universal Windows Platform (UWP) version, of playing with the same Xbox One account. Thus, all progress and cards purchased or obtained in an account will the other, and vice versa. The PS4 version, however, will remain independent and its progress will not be transferred to the PC.

Rewards

As we briefly mention, there are rewards in Gwent that can give offsets, ore, meteorite powder and even cards. The objectives vary widely and can be checked in the rewards menu, divided by Level, Ranking, Daily and Season.

Aesthetic Modifications

Gwent reserves some aesthetic changes in the Toasts menu. These modifications are avatars for the player's profile, more beautiful edges and titles to be used in multiplayer mode. All of them have no influence on the gameplay, just the visual differentiation of each profile.

Like other rewards, aesthetic gifts are also obtained from specific completed objectives or achieved levels. Set your profile as you see fit and get ready for the clashes.
