How to delete Google Maps location history from PC

Google Maps records the places visited by users who keep the location history feature turned on. The map platform gets mobile data to monitor your movements and give you an overview of the locations you've been. This information can then be accessed by both the mobile phone and the PC.

Although the feature has been involved in Google's privacy polemics, the feature can be useful for recalling moments and finding out exactly where you were on a certain date. Here's how to use the location history features on the desktop and turn it off if you'd like.

Places visited

Google Maps knows where you walk and records a list of places you've probably visited. The data are obtained not only from directions obtained in the service, but mainly by the GPS positioning of the cell phone. If you're determined at one point, Maps records the address in your history. Here's how to see the list of places visited.

Step 1. Access the Google Maps main menu on your PC;

Step 3. In the footer, see the count of places you visited since you started using Google Maps. Click to expand the list and view a ranking of most visited places. It is likely that the places where you lived are in the first place. Hover over each item to see the location on the map.

Travels

Step 1. Zoom out on the map to view the cities you've visited. Click on a point on the globe to get a history related to the location;

Step 2. In the right pane, Maps displays the route you have made. Below, click to get your daily commute on the trip;

Step 3. On the left, check the timeline with the step by step of the day, including restaurants and bars visited, as well as photos taken with the cell phone and distances traveled.

Date Filter

Searching your location history can also be done based on a date filter. Select a specific day from the top menu to find out where you were and get clues about what you did on that occasion.

Home and work addresses

In the Home screen of the Timeline, click under "Home" and "Work" to add or change the addresses. This data is used, for example, to feed the system that warns the user the appropriate time to leave the house in the morning.
