How to use formulas in Google Sheets Sheets

Sheets, Google's spreadsheet application, is a free alternative to Microsoft's Excel, and its main feature is to run directly from the browser without having to install anything on the PC. Step 1. Open the worksheet in Google Sheets and position the cursor over the cell you want to add the formula to;

Step 3. Add the arguments to the formula by typing the values ​​or clicking on the cells you want to use and press Enter to calculate the result. You can also do the same by pressing the directional keys to select a cell in the worksheet.

If you want to move the cursor just inside the formula of the cell being edited, press "Ctrl + E" or "F2" and use the directional keys;

Step 4. You can use multiple nested functions within a single cell. You can, for example, use the sum function (SUM) within the TO_PERCENT function, which converts the values ​​to a percentage;

Step 5. Another useful feature is the highlighting of formulas in spreadsheets. Thus, the cells used in the formula are colored according to the data, facilitating the visual analysis of the references;

Step 6. To use the formula highlighting, double click on the cell to edit it and position the mouse cursor over the data or range of cells you want to highlight;

Step 7. As an example, we will use a table with a column with numbers from one to ten. Just below, you can see the result of four simple operations (sum, highest value, lowest value and average) with their respective formula on the right - SUM, MAX, MIN and MEDIAN, respectively.
