New Launcher: how to back up and restore customization on Android

New Launcher is one of the leading home screen apps for Android phones because of the numerous customization options and an efficient backup system. The app lets you create a file containing all user-made modifications, including icons, folders, animations, and gestures applied to home.

You can save to internal memory or places like Google Drive, which keeps data safe for later use on another device. See the lines below for how to record your Nova settings and retrieve them later.

Step 2. Use the text field to name your backup. By default, New Launcher uses date and time of recording, but you can write anything there, such as the name of your smartphone. Then decide how you want to save the file. The "Device storage" and "Document storage" options use the phone's internal memory. The difference is that the second choice allows you to set the exact location in the file explorer.

How to restore

Step 1. From the same menu "Backup and import settings", select "Restore or manage backups". If the file is stored in the internal memory, it will be shown immediately in the New Launcher. Touch to restore or click the "three-point" menu for rename, delete, or send options.

Step 3. Regardless of where you choose to save your backup, the only requirement is to have New Launcher installed on your phone to restore a previous interface. In this case, just open the save file and allow the app to reconfigure the home screen. Changes are applied on time.
