Applying artistic filters to selfies with PicsArt

PicsArt is a free application that allows you to make edits to photos on your phone. Among other possibilities, it allows to apply artistic filters that transform selfies into paintings. Exclusive to the Android version of the app, the feature is similar to the tool found in the popular Prisma app, which also saturates colors to get patterns similar to artworks.

Step 1. Open PicsArt and touch the plus (+) icon. Choose the "Edit" option.

Step 2. Select a saved photo on your phone or use the PicsArt camera to make a new selfie, as shown in the image below.

Step 3. To proceed to the editing screen, touch the arrow icon in the upper right corner of the screen. Then choose the "Magic" option.

Step 4. Touch one of the effect patterns at the bottom of the screen. To access filter parameters, touch the effect icon again. At this point, use the options to customize it by increasing or decreasing light intensity, effect, saturation, and other parameters. When you're satisfied, go to the visa icon in the upper right corner of the screen.

Step 5. At this point, touch the arrow icon in the upper right corner of the screen. In the next window, choose "Save".

Step 6. Touch save again to have the photo sent to your device's media library. If you do, choose whether to share selfie on social networks or messengers.
