How to recover files in OneDrive with version history

OneDrive allows the user to retrieve edited files using the cloud. Just like in rival Dropbox, previous versions of images, PDFs, spreadsheets and other types of documents remain available for up to 30 days. The feature is useful for restoring a file that was edited and saved in error or replaced with another file with the same name.

Here's how to use OneDrive's version history to recover your files. It is worth mentioning that the function, announced last week, is being released gradually for users. For this reason, the feature may not yet be available in your account.

Step 1. Open any browser and go to the OneDrive website (onedrive.com). Now, if necessary, log in to your Microsoft account - the same one you use to synchronize your files on your PC;

Step 2. Locate the file you want to restore from an earlier version. Then right-click on it and in the context menu click on "Version history";

Step 3. In the side column, you can see when the file was edited. Click on one of the events to see it. If it is what you were looking for, click "Restore" or "Download". The first option restores the file to its previous version in the OneDrive folder, while the second one downloads without replacing the file.
