LinkedIn has voice messages directly in the professional network chat. Novelty is available in iPhone (iOS) and Android applications, as well as on the web - in the latter, however, you can only listen to the recordings. According to the company, the purpose is to streamline conversations and allow users to express themselves better. To avoid abuse, audios are limited to only one minute.

In the following step-by-step, check out how to send voice messages in LinkedIn conversations over the phone. The procedure was performed on a Moto E4, with Android 7.1.1 Nougat. The tips also apply to the iPhone version.

Step 1. Open the LinkedIn app and touch the messages icon at the bottom of the screen. Then open the chat with the person who will receive the voice message.

Access the message screen and open a conversation

Step 2. Touch the microphone icon. If this is your first time sending an audio message through Linkedin, the app will request permission to access your phone's microphone. To authorize, touch "Allow".

Step 3. To record the voice message, simply hold the microphone button down and speak. To send, simply release the button and confirm by tapping "Send".

Step 4. If you want to cancel the recording of the message, simply drag your finger out of the button until the red trash icon appears and finally take your finger off the screen.
