How to use the Firefox download manager

Firefox offers a native download manager. Although it presents basic functions, the tool fulfills its role and allows downloading files from the Internet - including more than one at the same time. It is useful for those who use small files, which take up less space, but may leave something to be desired in more specific situations when demand is higher. In these cases, the recommendation is to use a dedicated download manager.

In the following tutorial, learn how to use the native Firefox download manager. The images were captured in the browser version of Mozilla for macOS, but the tips are also valid for users of Windows or Linux PCs.

Step 1. When downloading any file through the Mozilla browser, you have the option to save it on your PC or open it. Choose the desired option and press "OK";

Step 2. Track the progress of the download by clicking the down-arrow icon in the upper-right corner of the Firefox window. Tap "Show downloads" to see more options;

Step 3. If you want to pause a download to resume later, right-click on it. In the menu, you will find other options, such as opening the file in the Finder or Windows Explorer and copying the download link;

Step 4. To cancel a download, click on the "X" button to the right of the name. In downloads already completed, you can use the magnifying glass icon to open the folder in which the file was saved;

Step 5. The list of downloaded files can be deleted, just click on "Clear downloads" in the upper right corner of the window. Another alternative is to remove only a specific item by right-clicking on it and pressing "Remove From History".
