Monetizing your YouTube channel

YouTube, as well as a form of entertainment, is a working tool for many content creators through the YouTube Partner Program. But many people still have questions about how monetization works and how to make money by making videos for the platform.

At the beginning of January, YouTube announced new eligibility criteria for the partnership program to reduce countless attempts to circumvent the system. The decision has determined that new channels that want to start monetization will need at least 1, 000 subscribers and 4, 000 hours of views in the last 12 months. The rule also applies to existing channels, which may lose monetization if they can not meet the requirements.

There are several ways to monetize via YouTube: displaying ads on the site; advertisements and sponsored cards that are superimposed on the video being displayed; or publicity - whether or not it appears - that appears before the video starts. Now that you're familiar with YouTube's new monetization rules, you can follow the walkthrough below to start making money on the platform.

To monetize a placement on the site, you need to follow four steps. We will explain each one in detail below.

1. Read and agree to the terms of the YouTube Partner Program

Step 1. Sign in to YouTube. Then select the account icon and click on "Creation Studio";

Step 2. In the left corner of the screen, select the "Channel" tab and then the "Status and Features" option;

Step 3. Under "Revenue Generation, " click "Enable";

Step 4. Read and accept the terms of the YouTube Partner Program to continue the procedure.

2. Create a new AdSense account

At this stage, you'll be redirected to AdSense to link your account or create a new account if you do not already have one. This action is required to monetize your videos and receive payments

Step 1. Provide your contact information, accept the Terms and Conditions, and then submit it to AdSense. Once you've completed the process, you'll be redirected to YouTube.

3. Set up revenue generation preferences

Here you'll define which types of ads to include in your videos, and automatically enable revenue generation for all your existing and future movies.

Step 1. Confirm that you want to monetize all your current and future videos. Then check the boxes under "Ad formats" to choose what types of advertising you want to show. Then just click "Save";

4. Have the channel parsed

Step 1. When your channel meets the program's eligibility criteria, YouTube will review your application to ensure that your activity complies with the Company's Partnership Program policies, in addition to the Terms of Service and Community Guidelines, which includes rules of Copyright. Once the process is completed, you will be informed.
