Due to the great focus on the online component, which brings official competitions authorized by the FIA (International Automobile Federation), Gran Turismo Sport requires constant connection with the internet, but it is possible to play the Arcade even offline. The restriction, however, is that the rider is unable to progress and accumulate experience points.
Gran Turismo Sport: how to play offline in Arcade mode
The Arcade tab, accessible from the main menu, offers six game options. One is geared towards the virtual reality experience, and another gives you the classic split-screen option next to a friend. Already the other modes, you see next:
Single run
The "Single Race" mode is the best option to compete against the computer and accumulate experience points. In this mode, you can choose the car you like, select the track and its condition - there are still configurable modifiers to make it easier or more difficult to steer. As in previous games, the content will be unlocked as the pilot attributes evolve.

Some vehicles also need to be unlocked with the game's virtual money, known as "Cr.". The cars can be purchased at the "Trademark Central", which works as a store, and allows you to purchase cars and prototypes. It is important to remember that all released content will be automatically accessible in Arcade modes.
Custom Race
If you want to structure races with specific piloting configurations, just go to the "Custom Race" tab. From it, it is possible to apply restrictions on the characteristics of the dispute. In general, the modality is similar to the "Single Race", but offers a wider number of adjustments.
Proof of time
Unsurprisingly, the "Taste of Time" mode is back and is one of the most fun for anyone who wants to play alone. The goal is to make the best time on a given circuit and, consequently, to break personal and online records. Choose the vehicle, set the track and play until you get additional seconds.
Drift Proof
In "Drift Proof", the track is shaped to demand the best direction of the player. This is undoubtedly one of the most complex modes since it puts advanced braking knowledge to the test. Before you take a chance on the drift, make sure you have taken part in the experienced "Campaign" challenges, especially those related to the brake.
Controls
Before starting the Arcade, Gran Turismo Sport offers three gameplay options, from classic PlayStation 1 times to modernized commands. You can choose the R2 / L2 buttons to accelerate and brake with the "X" and "Square" buttons, or to accelerate and brake on the "X" and "Square" and command manual transmission by the upper triggers.
In addition, there is an option to use the right analog control to accelerate and brake, which raises the challenge considerably, while the "R2" and "L2" triggers are used for manual transmission control.
